Where will Wehr be in 50 years?

Exploring the sights and sounds of the critters and creatures at Wehr through a child’s eyes! In celebration of Wehr Nature Center’s 50th anniversary, we interviewed kids on where they think Wehr (and the world) will be in another 50 years.

Featured Program

Operation Recon Nature

Veterans from all service branches – Active Duty, Reserve, and Retired personnel are invited to attend monthly walks at Wehr Nature Center. For approximately one to one and a half hours, we will travel on the trails of Wehr Nature Center to share camaraderie and experience seasonal nature happenings.

Wehr the wild things are

Meet the Turkeys

One bird’s mess is another bird’s meal! Wehr’s Wild Turkeys will gladly clean up the stray seed thrown to the ground by busy birds at the feeders. It’s quite a sight to find cardinals, doves, and sparrows eating right alongside these giant turkeys.

Featured Volunteer

Meet Mary Gease

Mary Gease has been volunteering at Wehr for 44 years. Mary shared these memories and stories in interviews in 2014 and 2023.

“I also got involved with the Bulldozer Alert volunteers who went each Thursday to rescue wildflowers that were going to be destroyed during construction projects. We transplanted them to Wehr and I even got to take some home.”
